In
the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, herds of Native
American Buffalo graze freely. They move regularly to untainted pastures
of grasses and spring water, reminiscent of the nomadic bison herds
of the past. This is Dr. Kings bison farm just outside Asheville.
Dr. King began raising bison in 1986 with 23 head of prize bison breeding
stock, and the herd has grown to nearly 300the largest in the
southeastern U.S. His respect and concern for the American Bison is
reflected in his complete and proper care for his herd.
Committed to a healthy lifestyle, Dr. King and his wife Suzie recognize
that bison meat is a precious source of healthy nutrition, one that
satisfies a tremendous void in the American diet. The Kings are committed
to educating the public about the wonderful benefits of bison as an
alternative to beef, as well as making bison meat easily available.
A writer, researcher, and physician, Dr. King has developed his own
line of over 200 all-natural, safe, homeopathic medicines. |

When
the pioneers first arrived in North America, an estimated 60 million
bison (commonly known as the American Buffalo) roamed the plains.
At that time, Native Americans, as well as frontiersmen, lived
primarily on bison. However, with the United States policy of
Manifest Destiny and aggressive expansion westward came the onslaught
of millions of bison in an attempt to weaken Native Americans
and drive them from their homeland. This relentless action not
only further damaged Native Americans resistance to the
U.S. aggression; it also virtually eliminated a precious natural
food source in the process. Today, however, thanks to the efforts
of many the bison population has rebounded to over a quarter of
a million.
Due to the many health benefits of bison meat, Dr. Frank King
began recommending it to his patients. Those eating bison on a
regular basis commonly experienced more energy, fewer digestive
problems, and increased immune function. He heard often what later
became the slogan for the Carolina Bison Company: You just
feel better! |
